What to Expect?

Jump on board and let us take care of the rest. All your accommodation is pre-booked, entry fees taken care of, great meals planned, daily schedules organised and a tour guide taking care of you. All you have to do is relax and enjoy the amazing sights we take you to.

Getting Involved on Tour

Our guides are passionate about providing the ultimate customer experience. However, to keep the tour running smoothly, we kindly ask that as a team, you actively assist your guide in day-to-day activities, including;

  • the packing/unpacking of the bus.
  • the preparation of meals and cleaning up afterwards.
  • looking after your own and each others safety.

Fitness

Our tours are aimed at the young and the young at heart and they all include hikes of 2+ kilometers over moderate to difficult terrain, often in high temperatures. A moderate level of fitness is required to fully participate in most activities. Our itineraries that travel north from Perth include activities such as sand boarding, snorkeling, swimming and canyoning (hiking, climbing and wading through gorges).

Our tours to Broome and through the Kimberley and Top End include hikes of up to 8 kilometers often in high temperatures and humidity and involve a degree of canyoning (hiking, climbing and wading through gorges). A high level of fitness is required to fully participate in the activities on these tours.

Swimming and Snorkeling

Our guides are there every step of the way to make sure you have  safe and hands on adventure tour experience, however, our guides are not qualified to conduct or instruct in water activities such as swimming or snorkeling. None of our tours require you to enter water if you do not feel comfortable doing so and choosing to engage in in water activities is a decision you should make based on your own ability and confidence to do so safely. For this reason we require passengers to hire their own snorkeling equipment (on tours with snorkeling as an optional activity) and by doing so you, at your own free will, are assuming responsibility for you own actions while using the equipment you have hired. Optional activities that include in water activities (such as Whale Shark Swims) are conducted by trusted 3rd party company’s with the necessary skills, experience, qualifications and licences to make sure you are safe, comfortable and having the best experience possible.

Accommodation

Western Australia is known for its extremes and after a long day of activities a good night sleep is the key to having a great tour. Accommodation include hostels, farms, outback stations, (traditional bush) camp sites, swags and large comfortable safari tents. All accommodation is based on a 4 – 10 bed shared dorm style.

In Monkey Mia and Exmouth we use the ‘Flash-Packer’ services of RAC Resorts guaranteeing comfortable, clean rooms and allowing our customers use of all resort facilities including bars, pool tables and resort pools.

In Karijini National Park we use the ‘Flash-Camper’ services of the Karijini Eco Retreat, staying in their world famous Eco Tents, setup to house bunk beds with comfortable mattresses and clean bedding and blankets, while still enjoying the outdoor camping experience around our camp kitchen and dining area.

During the 8 Day Broome to Darwin Tour we spend 3 nights camping in traditional bush campsites and 4 nights on outback stations. All camping areas we use have toilets and most have showers and running water. Unexpected closure of campgrounds due to natural causes such as bushfire or flooding may require a bush camp (no facilities) to be set up. Camping in the Kimberley is done in the traditional Australian style in swags (bedroll) and we provide 2 person tents for those looking for a bit more shelter (please request when booking).

Accommodation Upgrades

On all tours there are Double, Twin and Single Room upgrades available. All upgrades need to be booked at the time of the tour booking and are subject to availability. All private rooms use shared bathroom facilities (no en-suites).

For tours that involve camping the following room upgrades apply;

14 Day Perth to Broome Return – 1 night camping and 12 night’s twin/double or single – room/permanent tent.

8 Day Broome to Darwin – 3 nights camping and 4 nights in twin/double or single – room/permanent tent.

19 Day Perth to Darwin – 3 nights camping and 15 nights in twin/double or single – room/permanent tent.

Upgrade prices are mentioned on the tour pages and are priced per person inclusive of all nights as listed, please select two (2) upgrades when booking a twin/double for yourself and your travel partner.

Meals

Meals are provided at cafes and restaurants as well as fresh meals prepared by the group that include hot and cold lunches, hot dinners with salads and vegetables and continental style breakfasts. We cater for all dietary requirements including vegetarian, gluten free and other requests. Please advise when booking (a small surcharge may apply). Water and snacks are provided in all vehicles.

Age Restrictions

Children are not permitted on our extended tours and all passengers must be 18 years or older however there is no age restriction on day tours and teenagers over the age of 12 may travel on Broome to Darwin Tours accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Pick Up & Drop Off

We pick up from several central locations around the Perth CBD. The Old Swan Barracks, at 2 Francis Street, Northbridge, is our primary point for pick-ups and drop-offs.

End of Tour Drop-Off / Arrival Time times;

  • Tours that return to Perth – 7:00pm
  • Day Tours return to Perth – 6:30pm
  • 14 Day Perth to Broome Return – 3:00pm
  • Tours that end in Broome – 3:00pm
  • Tours that end in Darwin – 6:00pm

Please note that these times are to be used as a guide only and your actual drop-off/arrival time may vary significantly due to circumstance.

For tours returning to Perth regulations state that we can only drop you off at you original pickup point or at the Swan Barracks.

Luggage Restrictions

Due to the nature of extended touring strict luggage restrictions apply.

Day Tours: small carry on bag.

Extended Tours: 1 Large Piece (preferably a soft bag/backpack) + small carry on bag and no luggage heavier than 15kg.

Broome to Darwin – 1 Soft Bag/Backpack no heavier than 15kg + small carry on bag. Strictly no Suit Cases.

Greyhound Australia offer luggage forwarding services from Broome to Darwin and reverse. Please see www.greyhoundfreight.com.au for more information.

Due to the rough nature of some of the roads we travel on Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd cannot be held liable for any damage caused to luggage that does not meet the above criteria.

What to Bring

Aussie Wanderer provides all the food, equipment and expertise you need to have a great trip. However, there are a few small things we can recommend to make your trip more enjoyable.

Day Tours: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bathers, towel, warm clothing and rain jacket (winter), water bottle (1L), camera with LOTS of memory and battery.

Extended Tours: hat, sunglasses, bathers, 2 towels, water bottle (1L), sunscreen, insect repellent, small torch, warm clothing and rain jacket (winter), sturdy walking shoes, camera with LOTS of memory and battery,

Sleeping bags: Required for Perth to Broome and Broome to Darwin tours only. Sleeping bags are available for purchase on tour for $20 (please request when booking)

Charters

Aussie Wanderer suits any personalized tour idea for group tours or charters. Our vehicle fleet range in size from comfortable and modern 13 seat mini-buses, larger 24 seat buses and coaches up to 35 seats and 16 seat off-road safari vehicles.

We can provide airport transfers, catering and inclusive activities. Aussie Wanderer Tours and Safaris can meet any itinerary based on any outdoor activity.

Terms and Conditions

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation of a booking or part thereof will incur the fees listed below. Once travel has commenced, no refunds will be made for any unused services and clients will be responsible for their travel arrangements from that point onward.

  • > 30 Days – Full Refund
  • 14 days – 30 Days 25% of Fare
  • 8 days – 13 days 50% of Fare
  • within 7 days 100% of Fare

If your booking is made through a booking agent their cancellation fees may differ to the above and will be additional to Aussie Wanderers policy.

Terms & Conditions:

Aussie Wanderer Tours will operate with a maximum of 20 and minimum of 4 persons per tour. All persons must be aged 18 years or older. There is no age restriction on day tours. Children 12 years or over may travel on Broome to Darwin Tours and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All bookings must be made a minimum 16 hours prior to required departure date. All bookings must be paid for in full at time of booking. All fares are accurate at the time of printing. Should there be an unforeseen fare increase, fares will be confirmed at time of payment. An ‘Exclusion of Liability’ form is to be signed by all passengers before departing on any tour.

Travel Insurance:

Aussie Wanderer requires passengers to be aware of the importance of travel insurance when traveling on adventure style tours. We strongly advise to take out travel and cancellation insurance to cover against cancellation costs, lost or damaged luggage or costs incurred from injury or illness. If you choose not to travel with travel insurance please be aware Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd or any of its affiliates will take no liability for any cost incurred while traveling with Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd.

Liability:

No liability can be taken by Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd, the Owner/Operators or any of its affiliates in case of, but not limited to, damage to personal belongings, personal loss, theft, injury or sickness whilst participating in designated activities including but not limited to bush-walking, snorkeling, sand boarding, off road driving or camping. Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd operates in outback and remote areas and reserve the right to alter the route, itinerary or to cancel the operation if road, weather or other conditions dictate. Any personal expenses incurred by a passenger as a result of any curtailment, delay or alteration of any tour, whether caused by flooding, fire, road closure, mechanical defect or any other causes, are the responsibility of the passenger.

Aussie Wanderer Tours Pty Ltd and/or its employees are unable to guarantee exact arrival and departure times at any stage of a tour and are not liable for any failure to make connections with any other services, or guarantee the operation of any 3rd party service. In the event of break down or other unforeseen circumstances, the operator reserves the right to substitute vehicles other than specified to ensure the continued operation of the tour.
