Our Exmouth to Darwin tour will take you into the wilds of Karijini National Park, up to the tropical town of Broome and along the Gibb River Road to explore the rugged Kimberley Region. You’ll visit the gorges and waterholes, beautiful camp grounds, working cattle stations and see the Bungle Bungles in the Purnululu National Park before finishing the tour in the tropical city of Darwin. Attention - This tour includes hikes up to 8 kilometres per day, often requiring some scrambling over uneven terrain. The tour requires a good level of fitness and is recommended for active travellers who want to experience the wild nature of Western Australia. Extreme temperatures can be experienced while travelling in the outback (very hot, very cold, and very humid). Please bring a small day pack for use when hiking and a pair of hiking boots is recommended.

Day 1 - Exmouth to Karijini National Park

Day 1 see us travel east through station country and stop at Tom Price, the highest town in Western Australia. Here we will get our supplies before we head to the incredible Karijini National Park. You will stay at the multi award winning Karijini Eco Retreat in Eco Safari Tents with your own veranda, quality beds, linen and hot showers! (B, L, D)

Day 2 & 3 - Karijini

The next 2 days will give us plenty of time to explore Karijini National Park and to enjoy 2.5 billion years of evolution and 40,000 years of culture. We will visit and hike the gorges, swim in the rock pools, stand under waterfalls and explore intriguing rock formations including Hancock Gorge, Weano Gorge and its adventurous Handrail Pool, Dales Gorge, Circular Pool, Fortescue Falls, Fern Pool and more. Then late on day 8 we will travel further north to Pardoo Roadhouse to roll out the swags for a night of camping under the stars. (Tents available on request, please advise when booking) (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Pardoo Road House to Broome

This morning sees us arrive at 80 Mile Beach for some awesome photos! We stop for lunch at a Mango Farm with delicious wood-fired pizzas before we finally arrive in Broome. We'll take you for a tour around the town and then check in at our accommodation. (B, L)

Day 5 & 6 - Broome

The next two days enjoy free time and all that Broome has to offer. Go for a swim at the stunning Cable Beach, explore China Town and its pearling history, watch a movie at the world’s oldest open-air cinema or ride a camel on the beach at sunset (additional cost). For lunches and dinners check out the variety of eating venues or cook your own at the hostel. (B)

Day 7 - Broome to Silent Grove

Departing Broome early we head east towards the Gibb River Road and arrive at Windjana Gorge in the Napier Ranges for lunch. After lunch we will explore the gorge to view the native birds and resident freshwater crocodiles. This afternoon we explore Tunnel Creek and hear the legend of he Aboriginal freedom fighter, Jandamarra – before heading to Silent Grove for our first night at our campsite under the stars. (L, D)

Day 8 - Silent Grove to Mt Elizabeth

This morning enjoy waking up to the wilderness so very far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. On day 2 you will explore more of the region’s gorges including Bell, Galvans and Manning. The water levels at the time of your journey will determine which gorges you visit, however each are unique and special in their own right. After a day of walking and swimming in these magnificent natural attractions we will travel to our overnight location of Mount Elizabeth Station. (B, L, D)

Day 9 - Mt Elizabeth to El Questro

Heading further east we will explore, swim and hike this amazing part of Western Australia. We will drive across the Pentecost River and visit the beautiful Emma Gorge before arriving at El Questro for our first of two nights in this outback oasis. (B, L, D)

Day 10 - El Questro

On day 10 we will discover some of the one million acres of the El Questro Wilderness Park. Followed by a soak in Zebedee Springs and visit El Questro Gorge. We will then continue your exploration through the many optional activities on offer. (B, L, D)

Day 11 - El Questro to The Bungle Bungles

Today we will make our way to Purnululu National Park, home of the world famous Bungle Bungles. On this afternoon we will begin exploring the amazing sandstone formations of Echidna Chasm before giving the 4WD a hard-earned rest and settling into camp for a relaxing evening. (B, L, D)

Day 12 - The Bungle Bungles to Lake Argyle via Kununurra

On this morning we explore Picanninny Creek, The Domes and Cathedral Gorge with plenty of opportunities to take amazing photos of the famous 'beehive' shaped domes. There is also the option to take a helicopter ride over the domes, definitely one to tick off of the bucket list! We will then head towards Kununurra and make camp at the Argyle Tourist Village. Day 13 - Lake Argyle to Victoria River

This morning we explore Australia’s largest man-made lake, Lake Argyle whhere you can choose to take an optional boat cruise ($35). We’ll then visit the Dam Wall and have lunch by the Ord River before we cross the border into the Northern Territory and set up camp at Victoria River. (B, L, D)

Day 14 - Victoria River to Darwin

Our final day sees us visit one of the Northern Territory’s most stunning areas, Nitmiluk National Park, with its towering cliff walls and meandering waterways. We visit Edith Falls before arriving in Darwin in the early evening. (B, L)
